Appeals: We help
our clients navigate the often complicated process of dealing with an
unfavorable verdict. We have appeared on many occasions before the Iowa
Supreme Court and Eighth Circuit. If you are considering an appeal, contact
us at once, as the time frame for appealing can be very short. Civil Rights: We
believe that everyone deserves the basic civil liberties guaranteed by
the U.S. Constitution, and we work with those who are denied these basic
rights. We have worked extensively to protect all people from religious
discrimination, violations of their right to free speech, racial discrimination
and violations of religious freedoms and in particular to protect the
rights of prisoners in jails and prisons. Criminal Defense:
During this difficult time, we work diligently to defend our clients accused
of criminal offenses. The criminal process can be difficult to navigate
for the criminal defendant. We understand that this process can seem frightening,
so we work closely with our clients to help them understand their options
and to understand what we are doing for them. Dissolution of Marriage:
We help clients negotiate the process of divorce. We work closely with
our clients to develop a clear understanding of their circumstances as
they transition back to single status. We work with divorce clients on
a wide range of issues including child support, child-rearing after divorce
and allocation of property. Employment: Difficult
work environments or discrimination in the workplace can be devastating
personally as well as financially. We work to see that you are treated
with respect by your employer and we seek to restore or repair these relationships.
Habeas Corpus: We
assist those individuals who have taken their criminal conviction to the
Federal Courts after exhausting their state law remedies for their criminal
convictions. Juvenile: We help
parents and children deal with the complexities of the juvenile courts.
From an emergency removal of your children because of allegations of abuse
or neglect to the final disposition of a juvenile delinquency matter,
we strive to make sure that your rights and your children's rights are
protected in this often complicated process. Post-Conviction:
We assist those individuals who want to show that their conviction was
wrongfully obtained, because the system was in some way unfair, that your
lawyer was ineffective or the system was flawed in some fundamental way. Real Estate: We
assist clients with residential real estate transactions. We prepare purchase
agreements, offers to purchase real estate, warranty deeds, and title
opinions. Social Security
Disability: We represent clients who wish to appeal a denial of social
security disability benefits. We will work with your doctors to help obtain
medical evidence to assist with your claim. We represent claimants at
all levels of the appeal process, including representation at hearings
and, if warranted, appeals in the federal court. Wills: We work closely
with our clients to understand their individual needs and goals. Services
include wills, living wills, powers of attorney (general and healthcare),
conservatorships, guardianships, and estate and gift tax planning. We
also assist with estate administration, and the preparation of estate
and inheritance tax returns. Workers Compensation:
We work with employees who have suffered injuries while working. We work
to make sure that your rights as an employee are protected, and that you
receive coverage for medical benefits and lost income as required under
state law. |
